Dear 2020 Annual Meeting Authors:
AERA is pleased to announce an extension for creating presentations for the Interactive Presentation Gallery by two months—until September 30, 2020. With the 2021 Annual Meeting submission deadline scheduled for August 14, 2020, at 11:59 PDT, we appreciate that preparation of papers and sessions is the highest priority in the coming two weeks. Therefore, we have materially extended the opportunity to participate in the Interactive Presentation Gallery through September, given the demands on time as a consequence of Covid-19.
As was announced previously, the Interactive Presentation Gallery is a new product for AERA and a way of sharing work in progress throughout the year. Complementing AERA’s Online Paper Repository, the gallery is a web-based platform for sharing presentations from meetings. We are launching the gallery this year with a focus on papers accepted for the cancelled 2020 AERA Annual Meeting that were never presented. Presentations for all 2020 Annual Meeting papers accepted for paper sessions, roundtables, or poster sessions, or planned for accepted or invited session submissions, are encouraged to be part of the gallery.
The gallery is a vehicle for a brief presentation of your work that allows for narration of the presentation, if you wish, as part of your display. Authors can activate a chat function and meet up with other interested scholars during the month of October at a time scheduled by the author. Through this portal, authors can also receive messages and/or respond to Q&A well beyond the October “chat” span.
For those interested in reaching a wide community of scholars and networking throughout the year, the AERA Interactive Presentation Gallery offers a user-friendly, accessible, and engaging way of presenting your work. Without the competition of simultaneous sessions at an annual meeting, users of the gallery can see all of the most current work that interests them. Authors too can reap the benefit of having what would have been PowerPoint slides, handouts, or cardboard posters presented at a single fixed time, now widely accessible at any time and in a more dynamic format.
The extended deadline is a new opportunity for all 2020 Annual Meeting authors to still present and for all those who wish they could have attended the 2020 Annual Meeting to connect with colleagues at all career stages and their work. The gallery will launch as an open access product on October 1—one day after the final presentations are finalized.
This accompanying Facts and Opportunities Sheet provides additional details about the ways in which your work will be acknowledged and how you can share your contributions with the education research community worldwide. Please do not hesitate to contact us at annualmtg@aera.net for further information or if you have questions. Please also do not hesitate to contact me personally if I can be of further support or help.
Take care and please consider this option,
Felice

P.S. First authors will receive the official invitation to create an interactive presentation in the gallery. It is a brief task for a large gain. If another author seeks to create the presentation for multiple authored papers, the first author can designate a change in the presentation creator.
